The titles of the paintings refer to the language of the Maori, with which I became acquainted in the horror novel Kerewin by Keri Hulme. Some novels upset one's thoughts and feelings, like this novel does. In this period I studied still life under the guidance of Tomas Nagy. I make compositions with small odds and ends: a glass sphere, a placemat, a crystal or a stone. Like the little boy in the book I choose objects that I trust and that are entrusted to me. He too makes small structures out of slivers and sticks he finds on the beach, then lies down next to it, his ear close to the structure. When the noise of his heartbeat has subsided, he hears music. Very soft, very faint, but it is music.
